University of Colorado head coach Nicole Kenneally announced the addition of newcomer Linda Li Huang to the 2017-18 tennis roster. Huang is a native of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and will be an exciting piece for the Buffs this upcoming season.
We are really excited for Linda to be joining us in August, said Kenneally. As the highest ranked Australian player to be joining our program she will be an asset due to her extensive national and international experience.
Huang owns an impressive list of accomplishments during her high school team play. During her high school career, Huang was the Tildesley Individual Singles Champion in 2015, winner of the School Tennis in 2015, and winner of the Australian Pizzey Cup in 2016. She also earned her high school’s Highest Achievement award all four years, was named School House Sports Captain and Sportswoman of the Year her junior year, and earned a spot on the All-Australian Tennis Team and the School Colours Award her senior year.
Huang’s accolades don’t just stop at the high school level and her work ethic has allowed her to travel around the world to develop her into the gifted player she is today. Other tennis accomplishments for Huang include being the winner of the Tildesley Shield in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, winner of the All-Australian Schools Tournament in 2013, 2013, 2015, and 2016, winning a gold medal at the ISF World Championships in Qatar in 2015 (becoming Sportswoman of the Year during that same year, ISF World Tennis champion in Albury in 2013, and becoming the first Meriden girl to participate in a junior grandslam maindraw (Australian Open, 2014).
She intends to major in business with a focus in finance while at CU, but also has an interest in possibly pursuing engineering as well. Her long term goals include continuing to play tennis at a high level and some day becoming a biomedical engineer.
