Local Denver Author Publishes Third Book about Bullying and Uniqueness
Today, Cassidy Dwelis, a young, local author from Denver, announced the launch of her new middle grade novel Braidy von Althuis and the Pesky Pest Controller. The story is about a grade school boy who comes from a unique family, who deals with bullying, and struggles with identity. On top of the struggles of day-to-day life, the boy, Braidy, battles with supernatural and paranormal beings, making his home chaotic and lonely.
The story is all about acceptance, author Cassidy Dwelis said, and is about loving who you are and where you came from. Bullying is something a lot of kids deal with, I did, and I felt it important to give kids a story that they could relate to. The book is fun, whimsical and a little like a cross between The Addams Family and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The work is suitable for kids aged 8 to 11, but is enjoyable for all ages, and contains 19 original illustrations by the author, who graduated from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration in 2016.
